Membership Renewal

On behalf of the Committee, THANK YOU for your support and continuing participation.

Our focus is this magnificent breed in its entirety: showing, breeding, lure coursing, fun days, get-togethers and walks in various parts of the country. We provide for all Irish Wolfhound owners throughout the island of Ireland, both showdogs and pets. Most importantly we want to make people aware of health issues andcorrect diet to ensure that this breed continues to flourish. Your renewal is VITAL toaccomplish the many important services provided through the Society and its continuedmembership in the Irish Kennel Club.

With your help, we have had many fun days and meetings. With your help, we havehad many well-attended coursing events. With your help, we have maintained perhaps the busiest, well-read and informative breed club internet website in Ireland. With your help, we will continually develop through the year and beyond. We’re proud of what we’ve been able to do and we could not have done it without you!

Introducing Our Judge

I was given my first dog, a Fawn Great Dane, in 1972. During the next few years, severalHarlequin Great Danes joined the family, as did a German Shepherd and a  Miniature Schnauzer.I saw my first Irish Wolfhound in 1975 in  a magazine photograph, and I was hooked. It was more than 2 years from that moment until I got my first Wolfhound:Charley (S.A. Ch Liscune Cormack). Charley was an extrovert – a lovely show man and an excellent stud dog who sired 9 champions. Wolfhounds were a big part ofmy life from then on. Ilost my last one in January 2000, but I remained very involved with the club.

I am the founder chairperson of the Irish Wolfhound Club in South Africa, which wasfounded in 1980. I have had the privilege to present several Irish Wolfhound BreedClinics, and have given countless training classes in basic obedience and basic showtraining to Irish Wolfhound puppies and their owners. I have handled several Wolfhounds,Great Danes and other breeds to Ch. Status.

I began judging in 1983, and have had the pleasure to judge Irish Wolfhound Specialtiesin South Africa, America and Russia. I am qualified to judge Gundog Group, HerdingGroup, Working Group and American Staffordshire Terriers.
I look forward to visiting Ireland and seeing your beautiful dogs. It will be an honourand a privilege to judge your dogs.

Timmy U. Ralfe
